Parent
Communication:
Daily
contact between parents and
teachers is a vital part to best
care for each individual child.
It is very important as
the parent to make sure that you
sign your child in and out of
the facility every day upon
drop-off and pick-up of your
child or children.
Accidents:
Responsible
supervision of the children is
of utmost importance.
Children are never left
alone.
Active interactions with
the children and the
implementation of accident
prevention measures are expected
of each staff member.
Any accident that occurs
will be documented on an
accident report form and will
require a parent signature.
A copy will be placed in
each child’s file.
Should
an accident or injury occur,
staff will act immediately to
administer first aid if needed.
Staff will phone a parent
if the injury requires further
assistance from medical
personnel.
Evacuations:
Procedures
for tornado, bomb threat,
chemical spill, and fire
evacuation are posted in each
room located by the door.
All staff conducts
monthly drills so the children
know what to do in the event of
an emergency.
Sick
Children:
If
your child becomes sick at the
program, you will be contacted
to come pick up your child.
If the parent cannot be
reached, the director will call
individuals on the child’s
emergency contact form.
Your child will be
isolated from the group until
you arrive.
We ask that if your child
has a contagious or infectious
illness or disease, that you
please call the center and let
us know so that we can notify
other parents that their child
has been exposed.
Outdoor
Play:
If
the weather permits on nice
days, we will have scheduled
outdoor playing time.
The outdoor playground is
located in the back of our
building behind our gymnasium.
Behavior
Guidance:
Discipline
will be used only after
reminders and/or redirections
have been given. This will be done with a 1, 2, 3 method.
The child will be given
two opportunities to correct
poor behavior before he/she is
removed from the group to a time
out chair.
This method will be
implemented unless the staff
member feels it would be more
beneficial to take away
privileges rather than send the
child to time out. In the case of one child hurting another child, time out will
be automatic and immediate.
Time outs will be used as
a time for the child to cool
down and think about his/her
actions, as well as a teaching
time for the adult to talk to
your child about the offense and
consequences.
Repeated time outs may be
grounds for dismissal.
Only
members of the Peek-a-boo Point
staff will administer discipline
to children being cared for at
the center.
Parents dropping off
children, picking up children,
or volunteering with special
activities are requested to
notify a staff member of any
behavior requiring disciplinary
action.
Discipline
is an important part of child
development.
If done positively, the
child will view discipline as a
comfort and security.
If discipline is done
negatively, the child will rebel
against it and view it as a bad
thing. At Peek-a-boo Point, discipline will be done positively.
Staff members want the
children to feel safe and secure
even if they make mistakes or
get angry with another child.
We
believe that a child’s
environment plays a significant
role in his or her development.
A child’s physical
environment and the child’s
human environment are part of
what makes the child who they
are.
It is our mission at
Peek-a-boo Point to create a
positive, cheerful physical
environment as well as a
nurturing social environment.
The adults at Peek-a-boo
Point are committed to
facilitating, motivating, and
encouraging the children to be
the best that they can be.
Our focus not only
includes teaching children basic
blocks of education, but goes
beyond to developing healthy
social interactions. We strive to make the parent/guardian comfortable in leaving
their child in our care.
If
you have any questions or
concerns regarding staff issues,
policies, or anything else that
may arise, please do not
hesitate to contact Natalie
Spray (Childcare Director) at
641-676-1421.
